Mylee senior ambassador Tinu Bello dishes on spring’s most coveted talon trends.

With a new season comes new trends in the world of nail care. From the it-colour for spring 2024, to patterns that will turn heads, Mylee ambassador Tinu Bello takes us through the designs to show your manicurist (or try out at home)!

Psychedelic pastels

“Psychedelic Pastels are in for SS24! Although they certainly aren’t new, the designs we’ll be seeing will definitely have a modern twist. While we are still taking inspiration from the classic pastel French tips, and multi-coloured pastel nails, the 2024 trend is going to really look at elevating the colour and design of your mani for that feel-good Spring factor.

Forget what you think you know about pastels… while they are traditionally quite low-key, we’re going to see more of a bright take in 2024. Think retro oranges, like Mylee’s Flower Power Gel Polish (£8.99, mylee.co.uk), and hot-pastel-pinks, such as Mylee’s Dragonfruit Gel Polish (£8.99, mylee.co.uk). Of course, these pastel colours are best paired with stunning nudes; one of my personal favourites is Mylee’s For Your Eyes Only Gel Polish (£8.99, mylee.co.uk); as well as bright white, like Mylee’s Break The Ice (£8.99, mylee.co.uk).

These manis will then be adorned with colourful swirls, pretty flowers, and plaid designs. If you are a nail art novice, or mani-maestro alike, Mylee’s 5mm Ultra Fine Brush (£5.50, mylee.co.uk) is perfect for ultra-precise nail art. The key is to be patient, have practice, and master a steady hand!”

Monet manicures

“Floral nail art will be everywhere in 2024. It’s sunny, uplifting and happy, and sparks a lot of joy. Floral nail art does what it says on the tin. It’s the placement of hand- painted, or sticker flowers on top of your colour, or natural nail. It can be a floral border at the cuticle or tip of your nail, or it can be one lone flower, or a spattering of them adorning your mani. The look is customisable to your own preferences.

For example, creating daisy nail art is super simple. To start off use any base colour you want. I love Mylee Cozy Nights as a great nude base, or opt for Strawberry Milkshake for a sheer pink base. Then use a dotting tool to create 5 dots in a circle and add a different colour dot in the middle. You can stop here or use a thin nail art brush to drag the dots outwards into more of a petal shape. You can then use a thin brush to add a stripe of green underneath to create a stem and leaves. If you don’t have a dotting tool to hand grab a bobby pin and use the end to dip into your polish to create dots. If you’re a novice with nail art, try with creating the look with floral stickers first, as it is so much easier to rectify any mishaps. When you become more confident, you can start to experiment with hand painting.”

Life’s a peach!

“Soft girl nails will still reign supreme for spring, but we will see a slightly more bold and varied shade range. Rather than a loud pop of colour, we will see baby blues, periwinkles, lilacs and my favourite, peach. Various shades of peach will trend over the spring, thanks to Pantone’s colour of the year ‘Peach Fuzz’. From shades heading into a subtle orange territory, from nudes, to pinks, peach will be everywhere. So, where to start? For the most flattering peach mani, go with something paler with a pink hue if you have fair skin, or opt for a more orange shade if you have a medium to deep skin tone. I’m obsessed with ‘You’re a Peach’ by Mylee.”

Coquette

“We’re going to see a lot of 3D and textured manis for SS24. However, unlike the goth style we’ve been seeing of late, nail art will be hyper-feminine for Spring ’24. Base layers of creamy and transparent pink will be adorned with bows, diamante hearts, gems and flowers. The look is totally bespoke – make it dainty with carefully placed individual crystals or go all out with 3D adornments and a glitter finish.”

Cherry, baby!

“Juicy cherry red nails are pretty timeless, but they will have a big moment this spring. The look is cute but grown up and so can work for anyone. The beauty of such a simple shade is that the possibilities are endless when it comes to elevation. Add a glaze for a juicy finish, add cherry nail art for a fun edge, or add a cherry red tip to a classic French. Check out Mylee’s ‘Kiss Kiss’ gel polish for a perfectly succulent base.”

Glitter jelly aura

“Aura nails have really grown in popularity over the last year, with the likes of Megan Fox and Vanessa Hudgens sporting the look. It’s a beautiful, airbrushed look that takes inspiration from the aura surrounding you. But, we will see an update for SS24, with glitter, jelly-like finishes.

“After the essential prep, the fun can begin! I would recommend a very sheer, peachy nude base, such as Mylee’s For Your Eyes Only Gel Polish (£8.99, mylee.co.uk). You should use two coats of this for the perfect natural, subtle look that is needed for the base of these nails.”

“For the middle element of this mani, you’ll need the Mylee Double Ended Sponge Applicator (£7.00, mylee.co.uk) and the polish of your choice. The sponge is mainly used for patting glitter onto a tacky nail, but it’s also a very useful tool for creating very subtle nail art. Add a small amount of your highlight colour onto the nail, and use the Double Ended Sponge Applicator to buff it out for that blurred Aura look.”
