It’s time to talk about gynae health – and The Eve Appeal’s Get Lippy campaign is making sure we do just that. With shockingly low awareness of the five gynaecological cancers (only 3% of people can name them all – womb cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, vulval cancer, and vaginal cancer!), this campaign is here to break the silence and get the conversation started.
According to The Eve Appeal, every year in the UK, 22,050 women and people with gynae organs are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer. That’s around 60 people every single day receiving life-changing news – and tragically, 21 people die each day as a result of their diagnosis. The most common gynaecological cancer is womb cancer (also known as uterine or endometrial cancer), which is also the fourth most common cancer overall in women in the UK. Approximately 9,700 people are diagnosed with it each year.
The first step to recognising the symptoms of any cancer is knowing your body and what’s normal for you. While many of us were never properly taught about the gynaecological organs – either at home or at school – it’s never too late to learn. By raising awareness and opening up the conversation, Get Lippy encourages everyone to look after their health and understand what to look out for.
Throughout May, beauty heavyweights like Augustinus Bader, Elemis, and Rimmel are donating 10% of sales from selected products to support The Eve Appeal’s vital work. From woman-focused vitamins, to period products, to lip balm, you can find a full list of products here.
Big names like Ateh Jewel, who is an award-winning broadcaster, Spell Magazine beauty contributor and owner of Ateh Jewel Beauty, are also lending their voices to spread awareness.
From luxurious skincare to everyday essentials, you can shop and support at the same time. So, grab your favourite lippy and join the movement – because talking about gynae health shouldn’t be taboo.
