The seamless install
Old school is now new school. That’s right, the sew-in leave-out from the noughties is out of retirement. “Leave-outs are all about creating an illusion by making hair extensions look like they’ve grown straight out of your scalp,” says Philip Eric of Philip Eric Hair. By blending a small section of your natural hair around the part or hairline, sew-ins and U-part wigs suddenly become undetectable. “It does require extra TLC (heat protection and careful styling are non-negotiable), but the payoff is a finish that looks effortless and real,” says Eric.

Big blonde energy
Think soft, strategic highlights that look intentional. Ladelle Robinson from Hair 305 explains where to start: “Money pieces frame the face without doing too much, while honeyed ombrés melt seamlessly into deeper roots. Ashy blondes are still a go-to for that cool-girl polish, but warmer tones are having a moment too, especially when layered with warm brown lowlights for depth.” Remember, flat blonde is out; multi-tonal is in.

French curl fever
The French curl trend has been simmering since 2023. Mostly worn by our favourite influencers with a directional edge, this year expect a full-blown takeover. “This protective style blends smooth, often knotless braids at the root with silky, flowing curls that mimic a fresh blowout… minus the heat damage,” says Savanna Kelly-Smith owner of Sav Styles. Its high impact and unmatched versatility means it’s set to replace boho and goddess braids. “Long is cute, but short French curls with attitude are very fashion-girl coded,” confirms Savanna.

Quick weave braid bob
Tyla-approved and social-feed ready, get set for a new-age approach to braiding installs. “What I love about this trend is that it mixes the speed of a quick weave with the structure of braids,” says Natalie Joseph lead stylist at Hype Coiffure. “It might not take as long as single plaits but achieving geometrically perfect canerows and a bob cut that has the capacity to hold a flick will take some skill,” says Natalie. Nevertheless, judging by the outcome it’s well worth the hours! We’ve seen a variety of braided looks like side parts and half-up, half-down styles with deep wave or curly extensions, but the bob length is the star of the show.

Crochet human hair craze
The hair gods have master-minded a new approach to protective styling and its giving bundles. Crochet human hair is pipped to replace the ubiquitous boho and goddess braids this summer and beyond. “I love how freeing and natural this style can look,” says Aisha Ibrahim, Spell Beauty brand ambassador. “It’s a celebration of wearing textured hair extensions that’s a close or an exact match to your natural curls.” To achieve this look you can use loose bulk hair or the new pre-separated strands with an invisible thread hook. Choose from moreish curl patterns like Burmese Water Wave, Spanish Curl and Afro Kinky.

Rich girl brown wigs
Whether the shade is dark or light, brown tones are always warm and flattering. “The open secret is shine: high-gloss finishes that give the luxury salon look,” says Abigail Butler L’Oréal Professionnel Artistic Educator. “Opting for a wig opens the scope for colour play. Think deep chocolate, espresso, and glossy chestnut tones with subtle ribbons of caramel or bronze to add depth and reflect light.” Whether worn bone-straight, softly curled or in loose body waves, these brunette tones read expensive without trying.
