How did you both meet?
We met at school when we were 11 years old and have been friends ever since!
What made you want to start a business together?
I think because we are such close friends it has always been easy for us to share our vulnerabilities with each other and uplift one another. We both started getting into holistic wellbeing and took a more conscious approach to self-care while sharing tips and ideas. Making products with essential oils began naturally as a bit of fun but as this developed, we realised it could be something special. This really excited us, and we were both on the same page with our brand vision. It just worked.
What is it about aromatherapy that makes you so passionate?
We find aromatherapy fascinating! The science behind it and how it works, different scents influencing different moods and emotions. We love essential oils and as we became more aware of the toxins in the products we use at home and their negative effects, it was really important for us to use more natural alternatives that don’t just smell good but also have many health benefits too.
What is so special about smudge sticks and how do you use them?
Much like essential oils, smudge sticks have also been known to have lots of healing properties and have been used for thousands of years.
Essentially, smudge sticks are used to cleanse and purify negative energy. You simply light the end of your smudge stick and waft the sacred smoke around you and your space. They have also been known to kill bacteria in the air, help with depression and anxiety, improve memory and quality of sleep. To be honest, the list is endless, but we mainly use them to cleanse, heal and rebalance our energy. Smudging is a mindful practice so it’s great to focus on a positive intention or affirmation whilst doing it and then extinguish on a fireproof surface.
What does a cleansed aura feel like?
Everything within us and around us is made up of energy vibrating at different frequencies – positive/high and negative/low. Our auras are an energy field that have different layers which transmit, attract and repel different vibrational frequencies. Once cleansing your aura, you feel more grounded, refreshed and relaxed. A cleansed aura will help evoke more mental clarity and positivity, and help you feel more aligned and energised.
What should we avoid in the auras of others?
We are all interconnected and are constantly interacting with the energy fields of other people and the environment. As a result, we pick up various energies. We believe the best way to try and avoid absorbing other people’s negative energy is to consciously work on raising your own vibration by creating positive thoughts, emotions and lifestyle choices within yourself. This will in turn radiate outwards, effectively using your aura as a shield to block negativity.
Have you ever instantly disliked anyone due to their aura?
We all experience different levels of connection with the people that we meet. Its unavoidable to pick up on the energies of others whether negative or positive, and this can sometimes impact our own vibrations and energy fields, allowing you to recognise which environments and spaces you most feel comfortable and at ease with. All we can do is make the effort to work on ourselves internally so that other people’s auras affect us less and less.
What’s your most essential crystal right now and why?
Our favourite crystal right now is Rose quartz. This crystal is all about love, opening your heart and encouraging self-confidence. We think that this is important for everyone and is fundamentally what started our TALOU Journey.
