Review: Grace Jones headlines LoveBN1Fest

In true Grace Jones style, the 71 year-old lit up the stage at Brighton Pride with outlandish (and slightly scary) outfits

Grace Jones put on an electrifying performance at Brighton’s Pride festival this year.

The legendary LGBTQI icon performed on Sunday at LoveBN1Fest, dominating the stage with her fiery vocals and superstar presence. And it was clear to see the crowd loved every minute of her intense, nutty performance. Her appearance marked the return of the Queen of the Gay Discos.

The supermodel, actress and recording artist took to the stage looking fearless in a gold mask, oversized black cape and white body paint contrasted perfectly on her infamous ebony skin.

The ageless singer ensured all eyes were on her as she sang and talked to the crowd giving us some of her sarcasm and dry humour in-between tracks. The Rhythm to the Slave hit maker continued to top her stage presence with an array of bold costumes changes which showed off her supermodel figure – remember she’s 71!

One of the highlights was half way through her performance when she began to drink a glass of ‘grape juice’, but we could only assume was the finest red wine. She said she was going to take us to church and boy did she!

The queen of disco finished her set by being lifted by strong men who took her through the crowd to give the audience an intimate thank you, before returning to stage to say farewell.
