Spell Magazine partners with the Cantu Curl Awards

Back for its third year and bigger than ever, the Cantu Curl Awards showcases the freshest talent in the textured hairstyling sector.

Now open for entries, the Cantu Curl Awards takes place this year in November, with Spell Magazine as its main media partner. The aim of the competition is to seek out Cantu’s next ambassador, as well as showcase the wide range of talent in textured hair.

Unlike other industry awards, the Cantu Curl Awards isn’t limited to professional stylists, but instead welcomes mobile hairstylists, hair enthusiasts who want to get more experience, and those who simply have a passion for styling textured hair, love to create content and engage with a wider audience. This exciting event is the perfect opportunity for the beauty industry to boost the visibility of creative talent that we champion every day at Spell Magazine.

Last year saw London-based, NHS worker and self-taught textured hair stylist Nicole Gyamfua Yalley, crowned our 2020 Cantu Curl Awards winner during an incredible online event hosted by much-loved comedian Judi Love. Judi was joined by an esteemed panel of judges including media personality Amber Rose Gill and celebrity hairstylist Dionne Smith. After impressing our Cantu community and judges with her unbridled creativity throughout the 12-week contest, Nicole’s passion for textured hair and charming personality, resulted in her bringing home the grand prize of £5,000 and a year-long brand ambassador role with Cantu.

This year’s winner will receive all the fantastic prizes of the previous, plus the chance to assist award-winning stylist Dionne Smith on a Spell Magazine cover shoot. For full prize details, read on.
