Transition your make-up for summer

Give your bog standard make-up a full blown summer makeover with these super simple tweaks and product recommendations

When a smoky eye or statement red lip is your go-to party look, how do you adapt your style to comply with summer make-up trends? The simple answer is, you don’t.

According to celebrity make-up artist Banke Meshida Lawal, it’s all about fine-tuning. ‘If what you wear suits you, why do an overhaul? A few tweaks can make all the difference,’ she says. To really drive her point home, Banke has created these two exclusive looks that take darker make-up shades to new summery heights…

Smokin’ hot eyes

It’s important to remember that smoky is a technique and not a colour. Therefore, it can be adapted to suit all seasons come rain or shine.

‘To make a smoky eye work in the heat, use a cream to powder eye base,’ explains Banke. ‘This helps shadow have more staying powder. Apply a dark brown colour first, then layer with black.’

Create feminine depth by brightening under the eyes. ‘A wash of colour with a hint of shimmer will brighten and give your look a summery feel.’
