We came up with the concept for Yeluchi back in 2016. The fundamental idea was to close the gap in the on-demand beauty space while also creating an extension of our digital hair and beauty platform @UN-RULY, which provides inspiration and celebrates the versatility of black hair.
Services like ours existed, but there wasn’t anything that fully met our own needs or the demands of our hair. So we decided to create Yeluchi, instilling all the hair knowledge we’d acquired from years of running UN-RULY into something that really created value for black women.
The plus side to getting your hair done at home, besides being able to binge-watch your favourite shows on Netflix while a stylist transforms your look, is not having to wait around in a salon.
People have said that it also means they don’t have to worry about their stylist dividing time between them and another client, which is great for those time-intensive styles such as box braids.
All of our stylists have to be experienced and licensed by the State of New York. Any stylist booked through Yeluchi has been fully vetted by us first, as we’re focused on providing customers with a quality service as well as convenience.
