Cantu partners with Habia to elevate textured hair education

Habia is recognised by government as the Standard Setting Body (SSB) for the hair, beauty, nails, spa and aesthetic sectors.

Following recent news that all UK-based hairdressers will need to learn how to cut and style afro textured hair, Cantu Beauty and Habia (The Hair & Beauty Industry Authority) are offering free virtual masterclasses to trainee stylists and academies.

Habia said on their Instagram profile, ‘Habia are delighted to announce we’ve partnered with @cantubeautyuk. The initiative is ‘designed is designed to empower all stylists with tools and techniques to style and care for curly, coils and kinky hair’.

‘Precilia Zongo from Cantu Beauty said ‘Cantu is proud to have recently partnered Habia to support our Textured Hair Pro-training initiative. This centres on free virtual masterclasses for schools, training academies, apprentices and stylists alike. We are fully committed to supporting the hair industry with core knowledge and skills for all hairdressers at every level’. This partnership comes hot on the heels of Habia’s recent review of the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for hairdressing. The expert working group (EWG) worked hard to ensure the standards are aligned with the national drive towards making hairdressing a more diverse and inclusive industry.

‘Chair of Habia, Joan Scott, said ‘Cantu is passionate about education, their vision is to enhance skills in this area. Habia is delighted to back the initiative, we look forward to working closely with the team to provide support for colleges and training providers in the hairdressing industry’.
