Cantu has partnered with Women Empowering Nations (WEN), to invest in a global collective of ‘future leaders’ by empowering young women of colour to build their confidence, networking abilities, and personal/professional brand from an early stage, through the creation of the GLOW Cohort.
Women Empowering Nations is a non-profit organisation that provides exposure, development and mentorship for minority women, in underserved communities to accelerate their path to executive leadership.
The annual ‘Girls Leading Our World (GLOW) Cohort’ is a global initiative, now in its 3rd year and supports future leaders from the black community – which includes six from the UK.
The GLOW Global Cohort, has provided 878 hours of leadership development training and resources to young women around the globe, fostering a strong professional network.
Since its inception, the Girls Leading Our World (GLOW) experience has had a profound impact on the lives of over 5,000 girls worldwide, equipping them with leadership development training, resources, and empowerment.
Through the GLOW Global Cohort, participants have experienced significant positive shifts in their career journeys due to the emphasis on providing networking opportunities, which are sometimes hard to come by for Black women in particular.
Both organisations recognise the importance of holistic care, acknowledging that mental well-being is as vital as developing leadership skills. The forthcoming ‘Embrace Your Glow Virtual Event’ aims to prioritise the well-being of young women, understanding that self-care is fundamental to their success in leadership roles.
Carlisha Williams Bradley, founder of WEN, stated, “We believe in promoting and cultivating holistic care for the next generation of executive leaders through our personal and 1/2 professional development programming. Mental well-being is an essential element on this journey.”
Recounting her involvement, Cohort member, IIham Ali from the UK said “This experience has been so unbelievably validating and reaffirming. I think for a long time I was afraid to be seen, because I felt the world saw me through the lenses in which I saw myself. This experience showed me that wasn’t the case.”
