Erika La’ Pearl: Cardi B’s make-up artist

Cardi B’s MUA Erika La’Pearl on the iHeartRadio Music Awards step-by-step make-up look

Talk us through the product breakdown and step-by-step for Cardi B’s look for the iHeartRadio MusicAwards?

Unfortunately, Cardi was unable to attend, but we were able to pre-record her acceptance for the “Hip-Hop Artist Of The Year Award”!

I wanted to make sure that she was flawless. For this, I used ICONIC London. I actually love their products.

I used the brushes in the HD Blend Complete Set. Their Loose Pigment Palette is so versatile – I used it for the eyes and highlight.

Before I applied Loose Pigment as a highlight (I love that palette!), I also used ICONIC’s Strobing Sticks and Multi Use Powder Contour Palette to contour her face.

For foundation, I used the Fluidity Full Coverage Foundation from Morphe.

One product I would DEFINITELY recommend is ICONIC’s Sculpt and Boost Eyebrow Cushion.

For her lips, I used Fenty Beauty’s Stunna Lip Paint in Unveil to givet hat shine… and finished the look with Kiss Me Now 6D Mink Cloud Nine False Eyelashes.

Can you share anytechniques or trends you used for Cardi’s look?

I try and stick to silicon base primers and use a sponge to apply. It helps to smooth and fills in pores.

Why is ICONIC the perfect brand to use for highlight?

What I found is ICONIC’s colours truly pop. You don’t need a lot and they blend well. This is perfect to highlight and contour. I feel it looks very natural on the skin.

How can you best achieve this look at home?

Don’t be afraid to try colour. Be dramatic. Find that palette that works best for your skin colour.

For Cardi, I love to use colours on her eyes! ICONIC London’s Loose Pigment Palettes are perfect for this as they have such amazing and intense colour pay-off. And when I do that I like to go with a nude lip so her eyes can pop.

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by fashion and I love how make up and fashion go hand in hand. My goal is to own my line someday.

Cardi’s flawless skin and glow has become part of her signature look – was this something the pair of you set out to achieve?

I am lucky to work with Cardi and she is aware of how important skin prep is. With being on the road and in front of the camera, even though it looks glamorous, you need to take care of your skin.

Do you have any othertop tips or insider knowledge?

I actually fell in love with ICONIC London’s Sculpt and Boost Eyebrow Cushion that I use in shade Medium for Cardi.

Always make sure your eyebrows are shaped and clean. I try to stay clear of black to make the eyebrow look more natural so the two tone is perfect for this.
